Best Preflop Trainers 2026: Which Free Tool Teaches Your Ranges
The best preflop trainers in 2026 are the ones that both show you the ranges and drill them. For free range drills, Preflop Trainer (browser, no signup) and Lucid Poker (unlimited free preflop solves) are the most generous we checked; GTO Gecko, GTO Wizard and FreeBetRange add charts and trainers with daily caps. Poker Puzzle Trainer, which we make, has no range charts: it tests preflop decisions in context instead. Every tier below was checked on October 10, 2026.
Disclosure: Poker Puzzle Trainer is our own app. We compare it on the same criteria as the others and say where it falls short: no range charts, no range drill, and its preflop spots are a fixed selection, not a full range at every position and stack depth.
Try a preflop decision first
Under the gun with 9♠9♣ and 100 big blinds, you open to 2.5 big blinds; everyone folds to the big blind, who 3‑bets to 11. Fold, call, 4‑bet to 24, or jam?

How to choose
- To learn your ranges: pick a tool with charts and a range drill, such as Preflop Trainer or Lucid Poker.
- To build your own ranges: FreeBetRange is a range editor first, with a capped free trainer.
- To test decisions in context (3‑bets, 4‑bets, defending, with a reason for each answer): that is what our trainer does, without charts.
The limit of preflop drills
Memorizing a chart is not the same as playing it: drills reward the right answer in a clean spot, while real hands add reads, stack sizes and history. Use a range trainer to learn the baseline, then decision spots to check that you apply it.
