Best play: Call

Why

On T♠7♠7♦ your 9♠8♠ is a huge combo draw: an open-ended straight draw (any J or 6 makes the straight) plus a second-nut flush draw with two spades. As the capped BB out of position against UTG, you have no made hand to protect and no incentive to bloat the pot with a draw you cannot barrel comfortably, so you check and call UTG's c‑bet at the right price. The 12-plus clean outs give you well over the equity needed to continue, and keeping the pot smaller lets you realize that draw cheaply from out of position.

Key idea

Out of position with a big draw against a tight range, check-calling realizes equity cheaply and keeps the bluff‑catcher and weaker draws in your range balanced; you do not need to raise every strong draw.

Common mistake

Check-raising this draw as a pure bluff bloats the pot out of position into UTG's strong range and lets you get blown off equity when villain jams; the draw plays better as a call.
