A♠5♠ BTN vs BB, river on K♠ Q♣ 7♠ 3♦ 2♣, 100 bb

The spot

BTN c‑bet flop and turn, BB called both. River bricks 2c, BB checks for the third time.

Best river line with ace-high and the A♠ after the spades missed?

See the answer

Best play: Overbet 150% pot

Why

Principle: rivers reward polar overbets when you can represent the strongest hands and remove the opponent's best calls. Applied to A5ss: almost no showdown value (we can never call a check‑raise), and the A♠ removes some of the A‑K and A‑Q that would call. So: overbet 150% as the bluff from the bottom of our range — checking back only wins against missed draws, which would fold anyway.

Key idea

With almost no showdown value but a strong blocker to villain's calls, the lowest part of your range becomes the ideal polar overbet bluff.
